Reviews-
November 1, 2003 Gr 7 Up-Kelly Paddik, 15, has run from everybody since her father sexually abused her and her mother stood by and let it happen. It is only when she meets Chris at the Marymound School for Girls, a detention home, that she begins to realize she is running from herself, and that her father is still controlling her life even though he is dead and can no longer hurt her. Goobie's use of imagery and true-to-life characters will capture the hearts of readers who will root for Kelly to make her life all that it can be. Even though this book is geared toward reluctant readers, most teens will appreciate this grim but satisfying read.-Susan Geye, Crowley Ninth Grade Campus, TX
